Áshildarholtsvatn l Sauðárkrókur

An easy and enjoyable walk around Lake Áshildarholtsvatn. The birdlife on and around Lake Áshildarholtsvatn is unique. The residents of the lake have shown great care and united to protect the lakeside and the birdlife on the lake. Visitors are advised to stay within the footpath to Sjávarborg so as not to disturb the birdlife. The main bird species seen are Flórgoði, Stokkönd, Skúfönd, Gargönd, Duggönd, Urtönd, Rauðhöfði, Grágæs, Álft, Jaðrakan, Hrossagaukur. Sjávarborgkirkja is located on the route, built in 1853. Route length 5 km.
